Vinh U to Improve Scientific Research for Students

On the morning of March 19, 2025, Vinh University organized a training conference to improve scientific research capacity for students across the university, to equip them with knowledge and scientific research skills, and to help enable lecturers and students to better understand the policies, mechanisms, and evaluation criteria of the Student Scientific Research Award for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The conference was attended by Vinh University President and Professor Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang, as well as representative leaders of the university’s functional departments, training institutes, faculty, lecturers, and students who either have already or are currently participating in the Student Scientific Research Award, as well as students interested in scientific research work.

Speaking at the conference opening, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang emphasized the importance of scientific research for Vinh University in general and for each student in particular. “Scientific research activities help students improve their research capacity, develop creative thinking skills, and apply learned knowledge into practice. In addition, during the scientific research process, students will have the opportunity to develop proficiency in expression, presentation, and teamwork.”

At the conference, experts presented reports containing useful knowledge in support of the scientific research work of the students. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, Vice Principal of the School of Economics, presented the current status of the scientific research of students in recent years, as well as the steps required to conduct effective scientific research. Dr. Nguyen Trong Ha, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Construction, introduced the application of artificial intelligence techniques and the effectiveness and challenges faced when applying the aforemetioned techniques in scientific research.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang also provided a report instructing students on how to write scientific articles according to international practices. Pointing out the characteristics of each part, the main content of each part, the “golden rules” of writing international articles, as well as the reasons why articles are rejected. With many years of experience in the world of international publishing, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang expressed hope that these experiences, as well as his own, will be of great support, not only to students, but also to lecturers who are or wish to publish their works internationally.

At the end of the conference, Dr. Do Mai Trang, representative of the Department of Science and International Cooperation, explained the process and procedures involved in participation in the 2025 Student Scientific Research Award. He concluded by highlighting the mechanics, policies, and criteria for the evaluation of participating projects.

Also represented at the conference were experts and representatives of the Department of Science and International Cooperation. They addressed questions and concerns from students and lecturers about the content of the reports and the contents related to the Student Scientific Research Award for the 2024-2025 school year.
