The official correspondence stated: During the period of students’ temporary break to prevent the Covid-19, the MOET and the localities closely follow the epidemic situation, directing and guiding schools to strictly implement measures to prevent and control epidemics under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and specialized agencies. Up to now, the schools have implemented the cleaning and disinfecting their campus and classrooms; students have been instructed to implement the disease prevention process; Teachers have been trained in disease prevention procedures to guide students in returning to school.

Based on the current epidemic control situation and without further complication, the MOET requests the presidents of People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to decide to reopen schools for preschool children and pupils and students of all grades to return to class from March 2, 2020. The MOET directs the departments of education and training to guide schools to strictly implement the process of disease prevention and ensure school safety under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the MOET.

The MOET shall adjust the time framework for the academic year 2019-2020 for pre-school, general education and continuing education as follows: Time for returning to school starts from March 2, 2020; that for ending the school year will be before June 30, 2020; the National high school exams will be implemented from 23 to 26/7/2020.

Based on the above timetable, the localities will actively implement the 2019-2020 school year plan in accordance with the local situation of the Covid-19 control. In case the locality decides to welcome students back to school later, it must be based on the adjusted time frame of the 2019-2020 school year plan of the MOET to develop a compensation plan to ensure the the educational program  so as to finish the school year on time and to take part in the national high school exam.
