The Council recognized 65 professors and 638 associate professors in 2016. At the ceremony of public announcement, the Minister of Education and Training, HE. Phung Xuan Nha, President of the State Council for professor title, said: the recognition and nomination of professors and associate professors represent an important policy of the Party and the State in order to build, foster and use the group of major scientists in educational and research institutions according to the Vietnamese standards which step by step approach standards by developed countries in the region and in the world.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam highlighted that professors and associate professors are not only brilliant researchers and pedagogues but also examples of dignity at schools during their research, teaching, and even daily life.

It is the 25th assessment and recognition of professor and associate professor titles. The results showed the enduring efforts in scientific research and training by professors and associate professors and the support by their families, friends, and colleagues. Once again, the fondness for learning was valued.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training, Minister Phung Xuan Nha recommended that it is difficult to get the title professor or associate professor, but it is more challenging to strengthen the prestige and capacity for the whole pathway. I do hope new professors and associate professors keep making efforts to improve themselves deserving of this honourable title given.
